Kitchen and Bath Design Process

Every journey is easier with a map. Here is the path we will follow to transform your vision into the perfect kitchen or bath.

Consider Your Wants and Needs

Spend some time thinking about your objectives. Perhaps you want to impress friends and associates. Maybe the current kitchen layout doesn’t work for the family chef. You may want to increase your home’s resale value. Or you could just be tired of your old kitchen or bath.

Note any features and fixtures you prefer, whether it’s a particular cabinet style or countertop material. Also consider what appliances you want—doing so ahead of time will make the process smoother.

Look at magazines and websites. When you see a style, layout or color palette that resonates with you, save the photos and links. You can also check out our Portfolio page for ideas.

Finally, decide how much you want to spend and when you want the project completed.

John will schedule a visit to your house to discuss your vision, your quality expectations, the features you want and your budget. He will also discuss your layout ideas and take measurements of the space.

John is a methodical and thorough designer who pays attention to all the little details that go into a kitchen or bath. And he stands by his work, so if any questions or problems arise he is always right there for you when you need him. My customers all enjoy working with him: he is a great listener who makes sure they get the exact kitchen they want.

First Design Draft

Armed with the information from that first meeting, we will create an initial design based on you wants, needs and budget, then email it to you for review before our second meeting.

Come to The Showroom

During this second meeting we will review the initial design in detail and go over product features, styles, finishes and pricing. If necessary, we can discuss ways to value-engineer the project to bring down costs while giving you as much as possible of what you want.

Final Design

The completed design will include a floor plan, perspective drawings and the final price. Depending on the project, the path to that completed design could require an additional appointment or two.

Order, Delivery and Installation

Once you sign off on the completed design, we order the cabinets for delivery to your home, email the specified orders to you and provide the installers with copies of the plans. We are available to meet the installers on site to answer any questions.

Countertops

We order the countertops prior to the arrival of the cabinets in order to schedule the templates. After the cabinets have been installed, we make templates for the countertops. We can also be on site for the countertop installation.

Payment Terms

Our payment terms are simple. We need a 50% deposit when we order your cabinets and the balance when they are delivered or after 15 days of storage. Another 50% deposit will be due when we order the countertops and the balance when they are installed.

We have found this two-step process to be the most efficient, as many people need more time to make a final decision on their countertop material after the cabinets have been ordered.
